What treatment is offered for hair loss ?
Although we don’t offer grafting for hair loss, we do offer non-invasive options. Most notably we are able to offer Microneedling in conjunction with PRP and Minoxidil for hair loss. This combination treatment is being used throughout the world and has shown excellent results. This method is the most popular treatment in Europe.
Who would benefit from Microneedling with PRP and Minoxidil?
Both males and females with hormonally related androgenic alopecia would benefit from our technique.
How does the Microneedling/PRP/Minoxidil treatment work?
- Microneedling/Dermaroller-First, we go over the scalp with several passes of a dermaroller. We provide a specific 1.5 mm deep dermaroller for each individual patient to ensure sterility and prevent cross contamination.
- Platelet Rich Plasma-Next, we complete a blood draw and isolate the growth factor rich platelet rich plasma. This is a multistep process that creates a a fluid rich in growth factors to increase blood flow to the scalp, increase healing, and increase receptiveness to the minoxidil therapy. This platelet rich plasma is applied topically and actually injected into the scalp.
- Minoxidil Application-This stage is critical to stimulating hair growth. The minoxidil works by prolonging the growth phase of hair growth cycle. It is the only FDA approved drug for treating male or female pattern hair loss. This medical foam is applied daily to the scalp
- Repeat-The microneedling/PRP treatment is continued once a month for 6 months. This is in accordance with the scientific literature on the successful technique. The minoxidil appication, however, is continuous both during and after the 6 months of treatment. The balding/hair thinning pattern will recur if the minoxidil is stopped.
Where is the procedure performed ?
Platelet Rich Plasma Procedure is typically performed as an in office procedure, but can be perfomed during surgery as well. In our office we most often perform the procedure in conjunction with the advanced Infini microneedling procedure. However, we also perform PRP injections and can apply it topically for hair loss.
What is the average recovery after Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment? When can I drive? When can I return to work?
Average PRP recovery time is 1-3 days, although make up can be applied after 24 hours. You can drive immediately as long as sedation was not used during your procedure. You can return to work in 48-72 hours.
How much does Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment cost?
The national average price for Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment is $2500-5000 dollars. As every patient has different needs, the price can vary for each patient. You can see Dr. Graham’s pricing here.
